Alabama launches first major tour in more than a decade

It's been 40 years since the band Alabama first rocked the Bowery in Mytrle Beach, South Carolina. Now, dozens of awards and 43 number one hits later, the group is headed back to where it all began.

Randy owen says it was the early years there that helped develop the alabama sound. So we developed our style from playing all those songs for tips that we have today. We don't really feel odd doing a song by the Doobie Brothers or a song by Eddie Arnold or Merle Haggard... because we had to cover all those songs to make tips. Next week's show is kicking off a summer run that marks the bands first major tour schedule since 2002.

They stop at The Grand Ole Opry on April 23.
